Scouting the OL/DL Matchups: Week 3

What’s crackin’, folks! Week 3 is here, which means it’s time to figure out which 2-0 team will come back down to earth, and which 0-2 team will start to correct itself. Last year’s Week 3 marked the end of New Orleans’ explosive start and the beginning of the end of Dennis Allen’s tenure as head coach. NFL teams are still figuring out who they are through the first four weeks of the season, so don’t be surprised if sloppy football continues in Week 3.

However, we’re at the point where 0-2 teams need to get in the win column, otherwise they’ll be relegated to the “in the hunt” graphic later in the season. Here’s what I think we “know” after two weeks:

  1. Green Bay, Buffalo, Philadelphia, and Baltimore are the class of the NFL. (Duh)
  2. We can’t trust the 2-0 starts by Cincinnati, Indianapolis, or Arizona.
  3. Kansas City and Houston likely aren’t as bad as their 0-2 starts suggest. (Right?)

Other than that, everything is essentially still up in the air.

Week 3 has only a few marquee matchups, but it’s another opportunity for upstart teams (Indianapolis, Arizona) to establish themselves. Enjoy another week of NFL football!

WEEK 3 OL/DL MATCHUPS

MIA @ BUF — BILLS OL vs DOLPHINS DL — MATCHUP TO EXPLOIT

We’re in Week 3, and it’s already getting late on Miami’s season and Mike McDaniel’s tenure as head coach. The Dolphins lost a heartbreaker at home last week and get rewarded with their annual trip to Buffalo. Miami’s defensive front has been quiet through two games, and the Bills showed they can win without Josh Allen accounting for a touchdown. Buffalo has a lot of potential trap games early in the season, and, while facing a divisional opponent, should keep the game close, I expect the Bills to continue their dominance over Miami.
